Many people are aware that Samuel Johnson was responsible for the first ever English dictionary. Not many people know that he also scripted a bovine one. Here are some of the words from his draft and their interpretations.

1. Boat-ox. Common during Elizabethan times when it was custom for seafaring vessels to have an ox as part of the crew in order to undertake tasks beyond the skills of the average sailor. Often known as "The Cap'n's Cow".

2. Debt-ox. Cow with a hefty credit card bill.

3. Oxymoron. Beefy idiot.

4. Clox. A particularly punctual herd.

5. Boston Reds Ox. Breed of cow with tomato-esque coloration. Keen on baseball.

6. Nitrous Ox-eyed. Used to describe the bizarre facial expression exhibited by ravers after having a toke on a balloon filled with laughing gas.

7. Oxy Lady. Bird who looks like a bison.

8. Buff 'Allo. Greeting from a naked bull.

9. Goldielox. Greedy calf who irritates bears by eating their porridge.

10. Moosical. Can your yak play the banjo? He may be moosical.

11. Guantanamoo Bay. Detention centre administered by a self-deluded imperialistic herd who perform torture on innocent heffers just because their cowpats have been destroyed.

12. Bullocks. A load of shite in cow terms. i.e.-here comes a stampede. That's just bullocks.

13. Ox Tale Soup. Beef broth containing anecdotes.

14. The Ox Factor. Bovine talent contest hosted by Simon Cow.

15. Robert Moogabe. Deranged despotic African president who honks every time someone criticises him.

16. Oxbo. Restraining order for anti-social cattle.

17. Bulletin. Bovine newscast.

18. Aberdeen Angus. Anyone called Angus who hails from Aberdeen.

19. Cowslip. Used to describe any mishap at the Bovine Ice-Skating Championships.

20. Oxident. Bovine accident.

21. Oxidental. Molar check-up for your herd.
